Brighter Places backs national effort to address anti-social behaviour

Brighter Places is proud to stand with organisations across the UK in support of ASB Awareness Week 2025.

This national campaign from 30 June – 6 July has been set up to take a stand against anti-social behaviour (ASB) and promote safer communities.

The campaign is led by Resolve, the UK’s leading organisation on community safety and ASB.  This year’s overarching theme ‘Making Communities Safer’, highlights the impact that anti-social behaviour has on victims and communities. It helps raise awareness of the support available to victims, and promotes partnership working, bringing together councils, housing associations, police, charities, youth organisations and community groups – reflective of the fact that everyone has a role in tackling ASB.

During ASB Awareness Week 2025 Brighter Places is urging customers not to suffer in silence if they experience ASB. The first step to stopping ASB is reporting it.

Recent research from YouGov, commissioned by Resolve, found that:

  • nearly 1 in 5 people have considered moving home due to ASB
  • 1 in 10 have actually moved
  • despite this, over half of those who experienced or witnessed ASB did not report it

Sara Bennett, Head of Housing at Brighter Places, said: “At Brighter Places we believe everyone should feel safe and secure in their home and their community. We recognise the impact that anti-social behaviour can have on our customers’ wellbeing and quality of life. That’s why we have invested extra in our ASB team. Now all ASB reports go to the new team. They reply in confidence, give specialist advice, and take appropriate action.

“ASB Awareness Week is a chance to raise awareness, support victims, and build stronger partnerships to prevent anti-social behaviour before it escalates.”

Rebecca Bryant OBE, Chief Executive of Resolve, said: “ASB is not ‘low-level’. It can have a devastating and long-lasting impact on individuals and communities and often escalates to increasingly harmful behaviour.

“We are delighted that Brighter Places is backing this vital campaign. It is only through strong local partnerships that we can meet the growing challenge of ASB and ensure people feel safe where they live.”
