Investing in Homes and Planning for the Future
The Engagement Panel met in October 2025 to discuss how Brighter Places is investing in homes and planning for the future. Key topics included damp and mould, energy efficiency improvements, and long-term investment decisions.
Members received an update on the work being carried out to improve the identification and treatment of damp and mould issues. The discussion highlighted:
- increased investment in specialist teams
- the use of new technology to diagnose problems more effectively
- a focus on addressing root causes rather than temporary fixes
The Panel also heard about ongoing work to improve the energy efficiency of homes through initiatives such as:
- insulation improvements
- solar panel installations
- longer-term sustainability projects
Members highlighted the importance of keeping customers informed about planned improvements and the benefits these works can bring.
The meeting also explored how Brighter Places makes long-term investment decisions about homes. Members emphasised the need for:
- clear and transparent communication
- support for customers affected by major decisions
- investment that delivers long-term benefits for customers and communities
Throughout the discussion, there was a strong focus on planning for the future while continuing to provide safe, sustainable homes and quality services today.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the conversation. Customer feedback and challenge remain an important part of helping Brighter Places make informed decisions and continue investing in homes and communities.
