What makes this scheme different?
The scheme design features Ground Source Heat Pumps and therefore meets the second level of the Bristol City Council Heat Hierarchy (policy BCS14). The scheme also utilises Porotherm blocks which benefit from having excellent thermal properties for both heat loss aiding u-value calculations and thermal mass reducing overheating. Porotherm provides long term sustainability and features a low-carbon product manufacture. The scheme will also feature triple glazed windows further improving U-Values and the efficiency of the homes.
How will this scheme benefit the community?
The need for housing in Bristol especially in urban areas continues to increase. The scheme will deliver 67 homes in Bedminster, a central Bristol location and will contribute to the Bristol City Council’s Project 1000 Delivery Plan. The Old Brickwork scheme will provide 100% affordable housing. Creating high quality, energy efficient affordable homes in the area addresses local housing demand and contributes to the overall affordable homes targets for Bristol City Council. The scheme will deliver 59 flats and 8 houses all for social rent tenure.
