Brighter Places will build a 4 storey block that will comprise of 21x 1 bed, 13 x 2 bed and 1 x 3 bed flats, with car and cycle parking and waste storage. There will be a mix of homes for rent to people on the social housing waiting list (Home Choice Bristol) and shared ownership opportunities.
The scheme will be built to Passivhaus standards. The proposals for the building are for high levels of insulation and air tightness with heat recovery ventilation, to provide low bills for residents and excellent winter comfort.
NHS Property Services sold Brighter Places the site in Bedminster following the recent opening of a higher capacity health centre nearby. The site also includes a vacant betting shop. The scheme will bring a disused site back into meaningful use to provide much needed affordable housing in the area.
Homes available for rent will be let through Bristol City Council’s choice-based letting scheme, HomeChoice.
Homes available for shared ownership will be sold via Help to Buy South.
