We’re supporting National Hate Crime Awareness Week, 10-17 October, a national campaign that promotes understanding, encourages reporting and stands against all forms of hate.

At Brighter Places, we are committed to building safe, inclusive communities where everyone feels respected and able to thrive. We take a zero-tolerance approach to hate crime and hate incidents and encourage anyone affected to seek support and report concerns. Across Bristol and the surrounding areas where we operate, we work with customers, local authorities, the police and specialist organisations to help create communities where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

Hate has no place in our communities

On Monday 12 October, colleagues from Brighter Places joined the Lord Mayor of Bristol, local organisations including Stand Against Racism & Inequality, partners from Avon Fire & Rescue Service, Avon and Somerset Police and community groups at a flag-raising ceremony.  The ceremony was organised by Bristol City Council outside City Hall, College Green, to mark National Hate Crime Awareness Week 2026.

We went along to show our support for everyone across the country affected by hate crime and to send a clear message: Hate has no place in our communities.

Everyone deserves to feel safe wherever they live, and be treated with kindness, dignity and respect.

We’re proud to stand alongside others across Bristol and to help raise awareness and encourage people to speak up if they experience or witness hate crime.
