Customers lead kitchen table event discussions

Blog / Engagement Panel

The first customer led kitchen table on 17 September that brought customers together to talk about issues that matter to them most was a great success.

Led by the engagement panel, there were some interesting and lively conversations. Customers talked about their community and communal areas, including:

  • litter picking
  • items left in hallways
  • grounds maintenance
  • how clearances are charged
  • relationships with neighbours
  • concerns about reporting someone for fly-tipping
  • support available following serious issues and the lack of police support

There were also updates on how the panel influences Brighter Places on topics that affect customers’ lives, including:

  • decisions on setting tenant rents each year
  • making sure the impact of the cost of living and affordability on tenants is always kept in mind
  • influencing the appointment of contractors, such as the new repairs service, so customers’ needs are at the centre of services they provide

The discussions showed the power of collaboration and that, when customers lead the discussion, the results are richer and have more meaning.

There will be more opportunities for tenants to challenge and scrutinise Brighter Places as a landlord. By playing a stronger role and sharing ideas, every customer can play a part in making sure we provide the standard of service that all customers expect and deserve.
